Property description & features

  • Tenure: Freehold

  • Detached annex
  • Stunning setting
  • Three double bedrooms
  • Ensuite to master
  • Three reception rooms
  • Large detached garage & workshop
  • Beautiful gardens
I am completely undecided as to whether I love this home because of its stunning rural setting, it’s pretty and appealing looks, the practicality of family living that it offers or the feeling one gets as you sit on the sun terrace realising that you have made that Devon dream become reality.

This beautiful property has been lovingly and sympathetically extended to create a truly amazing home and one not to be missed!

This stunning home is set in a beautifully private enclave, somewhere to sit out enjoying the best of the Devon fresh air. All the sights, smells and sounds of the country titivate your senses! The clucking of pheasants, squarks of buzzards overhead and morning dawn chorus of gardens birds fill the air. Wood peckers love to visit the garden to help themselves to the nuts on offer and if you listen hard enough in the evenings you will hear the joyous sound of owls calling one another. Maybe I romanticise a little, but even the most hardy of people will find themselves with a beaming smile from ear to ear. An unmistakable sense of calm and relaxation ensues as you stand there trying to take it all in.

Multi-generational living or the potential to earn an income is also an option here as next to the house is a detached single storey annex, recently upgraded to include a re-fitted kitchen, a re-fitted shower room as well as a large open plan living space.

The main house oozes character throughout which perfectly blends with the convenience of modern day living. There is much to like but I must say my favourite space is the sitting room on the back of the house. A wonderfully airy space with its diamond light sky light allowing for floods of natural light. There is a multi-fuel burning stove (one of two in the house) to keep you cosy on a more chilly evening. Hills View Cottage is way more than a house, it’s a home!

I could keep waxing lyrical about this beautiful home and surroundings but there is no substitute for taking a look in person. I strongly urge you to take the time to experience it for yourself and would love the opportunity to meet with you there to help embed what you see on paper in the flesh.

The vendor informs us that the property is of stone and cob construction under a thatch and slate roof . Your surveyor or conveyancer may be able to clarify further following their investigations. The property is serviced by oil fired central heating to the main house and an LPG boiler to the annex. Other forms of heating include two multi fuel burning stoves one in the living room and the other in the sitting room. Mains electric and water are connected as well as mains drainage.

Broadband: Standard speeds available up to 3 mbps. This could be increased with the use of air band (Information taken from Ofcom checker)

Mobile phone: Coverage is likely outdoors but not inside (see Ofcom checker for further information)

Directions
From Torrington take the A386 Okehampton road and at the bottom of the hill after leaving the town take the left turn onto the A3124 road to Winkleigh. After passing through the village of Beaford continue on passing Dolton Beacon Garage and the turn off for Stafford Moor Fishery. Take your next left signposted Hollocombe then at the first cross road turn right to Hollocombe. When entering the village keep following the lane down the hill until you see the red telephone box on the right hand side almost opposite Shute Wood. Turn right here on a narrow track where a house called Woodside is on the corner. Follow the track to the end where Hill View Cottage can be found.
