Parkstone is a residential area built in the late Victorian period and early twentieth century. It has the benefit of a large variety of properties of different designs and sizes with many unique and original features. Over the past few years the area has become ever more sought after thereby encouraging the growth of a diverse and changing population. Upper Parkstone is largely a family residential area, with three local primary schools and a middle school. The high street, Ashley Road, offers a wide range of shops including Waitrose, Co-Op, Iceland, and some one hundred other individual outlets. There is also a wide and diverse range of restaurants and bistros. A frequent modern bus service connects the area with larger shopping and entertainment centers in nearby Poole and Bournemouth.
