Faringdon is known for its 100ft Folly Tower, the last major folly to be built in England, which offers fine views across five counties. It was commissioned in the 1930s by the eccentric Lord Berners who lived in Faringdon House. “The great point of the Tower is that it will be entirely useless,” he declared. With the Ridgeway to one side and the River Thames to the other, this attractive and thriving Oxfordshire Town is surrounded by beautiful countryside.
The town boasts a fantastic selection of primary and secondary schools, including Faringdon Infants & Junior School and Faringdon Community College. In the surrounding villages, there’s a choice of good primary schools, along with St Hugh’s Prep School in Carswell and Pinewood School in nearby Shrivenham. This makes the area a very popular choice for people with young families.
