The historic medieval market town of Hitchin, dating back over some 1000 years and originally built up around the River Hiz, is a truly charming place to live with a population of about 30,000. Hitchin has retained its market town feel and has many fine Tudor and Georgian buildings, particularly around the historic town centre, together with the beautiful St Mary's Church.
Famous for its traditional open market which is the largest in the Home Counties, open every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
