Bordered by the rugged scenery of the Pennine Moors and surrounded by the River Darwen, Darwen is a friendly market town with a proud industrial past. This heritage of hard work is reflected in the motto ‘Nothing Without Labour’ and can be appreciated in the town’s beautiful Victorian architecture.
Tower Gardens is adjacent to Lower Darwen Primary School, with acclaimed primary schools like the Avondale Primary School, rated Good by Ofsted during its most recent inspection (2018), being just a 6-minute drive away from our new homes in Darwen.
The popular Riverside Nursery is also only a 10-minute walk from the development too.
The area is well served by numerous health centres with The Royal Blackburn Hospital being only 2.3 miles away from Tower Gardens.
There are also an additional four practices less than 10 minutes away from the development by car.
Tower Gardens is situated within Lower Darwen and benefits from the fresh air and the big skies of the surrounding countryside that’s right on its doorstep.
With its beautiful windswept moors, there are few things better than going on wild walks in Darwen, with the town also offering locals four expansive parks to explore.
Parks in Darwen include Bold Venture Park, which combines Victorian paths and architectural features with a waterfall and playground; Sunnyhurst Wood, with its welcoming visitor centre; Whitehall Park, with its ponds and playground; and Ashton Park, which has lots to explore and enjoys a striking view of India Mill’s impressive Italianate chimney
Tower Gardens is also surrounded by dramatic scenery including the ‘Jubilee’ Tower which inspired its name and overlooks the town from the moors. Climb up the tower’s spiral staircase and, on a clear day, you can see Blackpool Tower, the Isle of Man, North Wales, and the Furness Peninsula from the top.
From hiking and horse riding, to cycling and an indoor skatepark, Darwen boasts a wealth of opportunities for fun and fitness.
