Minehead is often referred to as "The Gateway to Exmoor" and nestles on the West Somerset coastline of the Bristol Channel surrounded by the superb open countryside of the Exmoor National Park and the Brendon and Quantock Hills. The town has a population of around 10,000 and is made up predominantly of Victorian and Edwardian properties, popular 1930s houses and, during the 1970s a large number of bungalows were built to cater for the many people who retire to the area.
