Listed Grade II being of outstanding historical importance Hunsdonbury was rebuilt in 1832 at the expense of the Rector R U Calvert. Originally the house was substantially larger but two wings were demolished in the 1950’s leaving a very handsome house constructed of white brick under a red tile roof.

Internally the house combines light and spacious reception rooms with comfortable bedroom accommodation on the first floor. Particularly notable are the Gothic Revival features incorporated in the design reminiscent of Strawberry Hill. A plaster rib vaulted passage leads to the beautifully proportioned drawing room centred on an attractive open fireplace and with an intricately detailed plasterwork ceiling. The sitting room is similarly well proportioned and enjoys wonderful views over the gardens to the parkland and woods beyond.

Hunsdonbury includes excellent leisure facilities with an indoor swimming pool, a full sized billiard room, a gym, an all-weather tennis court and a stable block for the equestrian enthusiast. The gardens and grounds have been carefully tended and are laid mainly to lawn with flower borders and shrubberies studded with mature trees. Beyond is the parkland with a tree lined avenue leading down to the mixed woodland and three charming lake

Hunsdonbury is set in a rural location just one mile south of the Hertfordshire village of Hunsdon between Harlow and Ware. Hunsdon offers a village shop and post office, two pubs, a church and an outstanding rated primary school. More comprehensive facilities can be found in Harlow (3 miles) or Ware 5 miles distant. Fast and frequent trains leave Harlow train station reaching London Liverpool street in 35 minutes. The property is well connected by road with the M11, A10 and M25 all within easy reach.
