Located approximately four miles from Chepstow and the Severn Bridge, this magnificent, imposing listed period property sits in approximately 7.3 acres which includes formal gardens, pastureland and a unique walled Victorian garden. The rear aspect has far reaching views over the Severn Estuary and Cotswolds beyond. Refurbished over recent years with further updating by the current owners, Stroat House now offers the perfect blend of modern day living alongside period features.

Stroat House has to be viewed to fully appreciate the scale of the accommodation which briefly comprises reception hall, cloakroom, drawing room, formal dining room, extensive L-shaped open plan kitchen/dining/family room, boot room, ancillary kitchen. The bedrooms, set over two further floors comprise; master bedroom suite with luxury en-suite wet room, two further bedrooms and shower room to the first floor and three bedrooms, shower room and family bathroom to the second floor. Stairs then access the attic. The property also benefits from a sizeable cellar which includes a wine cellar and store room. There is an upgraded ADT security system and CCTV installed.

Alongside the main residence is a detached Garage/Coach House which currently comprises a tandem length garage with workbench area to the ground floor with a staircase to the first floor attic/art room/hobbies room. There is potential for conversion to self-contained accommodation (subject to planning).

HISTORICAL NOTE
Stroat House is believed to date from around 1680 and in 1750 the house and estate was owned by the Vicar of Tidenham who resided here. The most notable historical resident was Captain Thomas Fenton who survived both the Peninsula War and the Battle of Waterloo apparently without a scratch! He served with the 4th Dragoons and the Scots Greys and commanded a troop at Waterloo. It is believed that he used part of his prize money' to gentrify the house and he added the stone quoins, the classical pediment and the archway in the high stone wall to the front of the property.
