Upstairs, the main room has unparalleled views down the river in both directions and across to Stourbridge Common. Its wood panelled vaulted ceiling mimics the appearance of the inside of a boat. French doors give access to the distinctive red balcony at the far end, which overhangs the river – an idyllic spot for watching life go by. Also upstairs is a shower room and further bedroom.

Outside, the fenced and paved garden wraps round the house on three sides. There is parking for several cars via double gates to the side. Well planted flower beds lead down to the riverfront where a bench is placed to sit by the water, catch the sunshine and enjoy the view.

• Chesterton is an ever popular part of Cambridge city with local cafes such as Stir and Barbarella nearby as well as well-regarded restaurants such as Restaurant 22 and Michelin starred Midsummer House along Chesterton Road.

• Water Street is approximately 0.7 miles on foot from Cambridge North train station and 2 miles to Cambridge station which offers regular services to both London Kings Cross and London Liverpool Street as well national services to Birmingham, Brighton and others.
