It has origins of a three room passage house with late medieval stone chimney stack. Internally there are two fabulous Thorverton stone inglenook fireplaces plus many fine chamfered beams. Bedroom 1 has an amazing early 17th century plaster ceiling with central pendant.
The House - The house lies on the western side of the wonderful courtyard of traditional buildings with the house enjoying a delightful outlook over its grounds on the south and west sides. The accommodation includes some stunning principal reception rooms that flow well from the historic cross-passage hall. Fine dining room with Thorverton stone fireplace and impressive drawing room which is south and west-facing, also with fireplace. The sitting room has a huge farmhouse fireplace with a bread oven. One of the cottages has been used by the family for holidays whilst the other has been let until recently on Assured Shorthold Tenancies. The eastern cottage is in need of improvement, though their location on the edge of the courtyard with their own secluded south-facing
gardens and a delightful outlook over the grounds, are particularly appealing. See floorplans for room sizes etc.

There are some fascinating original features including cow stalls and cobbled floors, while the open courtyard still has the delightful cobbles. These buildings provide a wonderful opportunity for further uses, subject to the necessary consents, or for useful storage etc.
The Grounds - The delightful mature gardens of the house are on the west and south sides, being primarily lawned with shrub and rose borders and some fine specimen trees, including magnolia, tulip tree and acacia. Beyond the gardens to the south is a level orchard with numerous fruit trees which are surrounded by open farmland on three sides. Overall the property amounts to about 1.9 acres.
