8 Newstone Cottages is one of a charming row of Grade II listed cottages built in 1919 by Lord Cowdray and designed by Sir Aston Webb, a prominent architect who also designed nearby Worth Abbey. The row consists of five pairs, built with stone and timber elevations giving them a Tudor appearance; they are believed to have been built for the stone masons working on Worth Abbey and exemplify many fine details not usually found in former worker’s cottages.

Number 8 is beautifully presented, with many authentic features of note including mullioned windows, stripped wood architraves and panelled and latched wood doors.

A solid wood front door opens to the entrance hall, which leads to the sitting room, which has block parquet flooring, a working fireplace and fitted cupboards to either side of the chimney breast. Lying to the rear is the kitchen, with a quarry tiled floor and good range of wall mounted and undercounter fitted units under wood and laminate worktops, a gas hob, an electric oven and an inset woodburning stove.

A stable door opens to the conservatory, which has a stone tiled floor and space for dining table and chairs in addition to further seating, creating a spacious room to enjoy the lovely outlook over the landscaped gardens.

On the first floor are two bedrooms, one with fitted cupboards and the other with stripped wood floors and a feature fireplace. A bathroom with modern suite completes the accommodation; please refer to the floorplans for an overview of the full layout including storage cupboards.

The outside space offered by number 8 is a particularly fine feature of the property. Location

Situated in the Turners Hill Conservation Area. Turners Hill is a picturesque village in the Sussex Weald, and provides for day to day needs with a village shop, two churches, two public houses and a primary school; comprehensive shopping is available at East Grinstead (four miles), Crawley (four miles) and Haywards Heath (eight miles).

Sussex offers many excellent sporting opportunities with golf at Royal Ashdown, Haywards Heath and Piltdown, and many other courses across the county. There is racing at Goodwood, Lingfield and Plumpton, and sailing at Ardingly Reservoir and the coast. The Bluebell Railway heritage steam railway runs between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead.

Transport: Three Bridges (4.2 miles), London Bridge/Victoria from 35 minutes or Gatwick airport (7.5 miles) for the Gatwick Express. The M23 lies to the west, giving onward access to the motorway network and the South Coast.

Schools: There are many highly regarded state and independent schools in the area, including Turners Hill C of E primary (rated Ofsted outstanding in 2016), Cumnor House, Great Walstead, Handcross Park, Brambletye, Hurstpierpoint College, Worth School and Ardingly College.
