8 Newstone Cottages is one of a charming row of Grade II listed cottages built in 1919 by Lord Cowdray and designed by Sir Aston Webb, a prominent architect who also designed nearby Worth Abbey. The row consists of five pairs, built with stone and timber elevations giving them a Tudor appearance; they are believed to have been built for the stone masons working on Worth Abbey and exemplify many fine details not usually found in former worker’s cottages.
Number 8 is beautifully presented, with many authentic features of note including mullioned windows, stripped wood architraves and panelled and latched wood doors.
A solid wood front door opens to the entrance hall, which leads to the sitting room, which has block parquet flooring, a working fireplace and fitted cupboards to either side of the chimney breast. Lying to the rear is the kitchen, with a quarry tiled floor and good range of wall mounted and undercounter fitted units under wood and laminate worktops, a gas hob, an electric oven and an inset woodburning stove.
A stable door opens to the conservatory, which has a stone tiled floor and space for dining table and chairs in addition to further seating, creating a spacious room to enjoy the lovely outlook over the landscaped gardens.

Sussex offers many excellent sporting opportunities with golf at Royal Ashdown, Haywards Heath and Piltdown, and many other courses across the county. There is racing at Goodwood, Lingfield and Plumpton, and sailing at Ardingly Reservoir and the coast. The Bluebell Railway heritage steam railway runs between Sheffield Park and East Grinstead.
