Description

A beautifully presented village house of character having handsome elevations of whitened render and mellow red brick, under a slate roof. The house has been the subject of a comprehensive and sympathetic programme of refurbishment and extension in recent years by the current owners. Works carried out included the building of the kitchen, utility room and garage block with studio over, installation of new period style UPVC sash windows and bi-fold doors, new mains gas fired central heating with period style radiators, luxuriously appointed bathroom and cloakroom fittings, and a stunning fitted kitchen by deVol with central island and integrated appliances. Another particular feature is the detached garage block with studio over, which the owners have run as a successful Air BnB.

Internal inspection of this charming house is strongly recommended, and a brief summary of the accommodation is as follows;

A panelled front door with etched glass panes opens into the entrance hall, with Victorian style tiled floor, painted wainscotting, deep storage cupboards also housing hot water cylinder, and a guest cloakroom with a period style suite. The sitting room has a bay to the front with deep sash windows, fireplace and hearth with log burner, and a feature tall radiator. The family room has twin sash windows to the side. The large dining room has features including a tiled floor with parquet border, and a beautiful reclaimed stained glass window. A floor to ceiling cupboard houses the gas fired boiler. A wide opening from the dining room leads into the kitchen, which is bathed in light from a ceiling lantern and bi fold doors leading to the terrace and garden. The stylishly fitted kitchen is by deVol and features a large central island with composite stone surfaces, and integrated appliances including a gas hob, double oven, microwave oven, drawer fridge, and dishwasher. There is parquet flooring. Also leading off the dining room is the useful utility room with a range of units, sink, plumbing and space for washer and dryer, and a door to the side courtyard
A staircase with turned balustrade and pine handrail leads up to the first floor landing. The generous main bedroom a wide bay window with window seat and storage beneath, two sets of built in wardrobe cupboards, and decorative ceiling cornice. The second bedroom is of a good size and there are two single bedrooms, both with built in wardrobes. The luxurious family bathroom has a bath with rain shower over, basin with storage beneath, WC, heated towel rail, linen cupboard and tiled floor.

Outside
There is a wide shingle driveway at the front, approached across the neighbouring driveway and providing extensive parking. High timber gates at the side lead through to further parking and to an attractive secluded courtyard area with sunny south and west facing terrace, perfect for outdoor dining and entertaining. The main area of garden is laid to good size lawn, with sleeper edges and a stone border and timber garden shed at the rear.

The detached Garage Block has been built to compliment the house, having brick, render and wood clad elevations, a slate roof, sash windows, Velux type rooflights, and electric heating. It includes a garage with electric roller shutter door and a storage or workshop recess. A separate door gives access to the hall, with tiled floor, hot water cylinder, and small sitting area. A spacious bathroom has a bath with glass shower screen, rainwater shower basin with storage beneath, WC, and heated towel rail. A staircase from the hall rises to the first floor studio/ bedroom, which would also be perfect for use as a home office.
