Description

This handsome family home is located in one of the area’s most prestigious and sought after private roads. Designed and built in 1979, using many architectural elements including feature timber work, reclaimed bricks and stone mullioned church windows and front door, offering all the advantages of modern living with the character associated with historic houses.

This impressive property is less than half a mile from Cookham Village with its many shops, public houses and restaurants. It is approached through automated iron gates and there is a wide gravel parking and turning area in front of the house which leads to the detached double garage that offers the potential of conversion into an office or staff accommodation, subject to obtaining planning consent.

Internally the period style is married with the best of contemporary elements including a high specification hand painted kitchen. This incorporates many integrated NEFF appliances and has an extensive centre island with quartz work surfaces.

The two principal living spaces of kitchen/breakfast room and living room have wide openings leading into their own conservatories which afford fine views and French doors into the pretty gardens, under floor heating is present in all ground floor rooms and first floor bathrooms.

At the front of the house a formal reception room offers an impressive entrance with fine handrail and oak staircase. The study is complete with fitted bookcases and cupboards positioned at the front of the house, overlooking the entrance and approach.

On the first floor both the family bathroom and en-suite to the master bedroom have been beautifully fitted. There is a good range of spacious bedrooms and a large dressing room. The present owners have created a valuable and versatile additional space on the second floor with the creation of a large guest suite/staff accommodation, offering double bedroom, sitting room, en suite shower room and bar area. The second floor suite offers stunning views across the garden to the River Thames.

Outside
The private gardens are mainly laid to the South and West of the house and are screened from other properties by mature evergreen hedge row and close board fences. There are a number of mature shrub beds and extensive lawns with some fruit tees. A pergola covered with climbing wisteria and grape vine, provide an appealing walk from the house to the garage.

The front of the house and its driveway is accessed through electronically operated gates. The driveway offers parking for several vehicles and allows access to the garage.

The detached double garage provides parking and has a useful room above, with the potential (subject to obtaining planning consent) of further uses such as a guest suite, home office or gym.
