Tucked away on Hyde Vale, opposite an entrance that leads straight to the spectacular Greenwich park is this equally spectacular Georgian styled detached cottage originally built in 1839 that's almost 1200 sq ft in size. This is only the second time since 1928 it's been available on the open market, so it's a rare find.
Having just been refurbished to a very high standard, it's the perfect house for a family wanting to be near both the park and the town centre, which is just 7 minutes walk away.
With beautiful Mandarin Stone tiles throughout, a vintage Burlington styled bathroom and cloakroom, gorgeous wood flooring on the ground floor, beautiful panelled walls to the double bedrooms and hallway, monochrome painted walls and bespoke carpentry wardrobes in the single bedroom, this property is stunning throughout.
There's also scope to extend considerably as the current owner had plans approved for a side/rear/basement development. You can pretty much double the size of the property should you need to expand in size in the future.
Add to that it has one of the best, if not 'the' best garden on Hyde Vale and it's an absolute must see. It's chain free too!
Greenwich or Blackheath (also nearby) need no introduction and are widely known as South East London's best postcodes to live, offer brilliant and vibrant village town centres and excellent private schools too.
Parking is permit and right outside the house.
What the owner says -
We bought the house from the previous owner and it had been in her family since 1928! It was built in 1839 , and is Georgian style and was originally part of a terrace of houses - the basement still has the original coal range. The garage next door does not belong to us - the neighbour who built the two garages offered one to the previous owners dad in the 50s but he said no because he didn't think cars would really be a think that people wanted - a fad he thought. He was a rose enthusiast - some of the old rose bushes in the garden were planted by him. I asked the previous owner to create a little time capsule - which details her family's relationship with the house and this has been tucked into ones of the internal walls during the renovation. I loved the garden and the cottagey feel of the house which is what we fell in love with.
We had planned to do a full scale renovation of the property. We bought it in 2020 and because of the pandemic we struggled to get planning through smoothly. Time delays meant that we felt it wiser to renovate and sell the house and we then found another house which didn't need as much of our time to be invested into it. I have very mixed emotions about selling it now, as I had spent a lot of time and emotional energy planning the project and now it's done I'm even more emotional as it now looks so beautiful.
The plans have been approved so a future owner has the option of extending the house. We have permission for basement work, ground floor extension and first floor addition. The party wall agreements were almost finalized so should the future owner need, I can provide details of the surveyor we used so the process could be quite quickly completed. I had plans for an art studio tucked in at the back of the garden - this fell under permitted development, so no planning permission was required.
*Please note the EPC was carried out before the refurbishment.

020 8033 5035Understandably, some people have a pretty dim view of estate agents, and it seems many have a horror story or two to share – us included. But our mission is to change the profession by example…and hopefully end up being a bit less lonely at dinner parties and the school gates. “Fairness” and “honesty” don’t often appear in the same sentence as “estate agent”, but we’re staking everything on it – which also involves being honest about what you actually need from an estate agent these days. The Fishneedwater team share the same belief that if you treat clients fairly and do things properly, they won’t mind the lack of branded minis or beers in the office fridge. Please note our Client Protection Protection is with Propertymark Arbon House, 6 Tournament CourtEdgehill Drive, Warwick CV34 6LG. This can be found on our website at the bottom of each page.
