THE LOCAL AREA
Stockbridge is a community of Edinburgh, very highly sought-after for its cobbled streets with easy access to the New Town at one end, and Comely Bank at the other. The eastern route into Stockbridge is marked by the local landmark, St Stephen's Church. Many other historical and very beautiful landmarks are dotted around, including a mineral water well which is on the south bank of the Water of Leith, on an estate once known as St Bernard's. The area contains speciality shops including a well-respected cheesemonger as well as many charity shops (some of which are among the highest grossing in the UK), supermarkets, and some of the best bars Edinburgh has to offer. There is a popular farmers' market each Sunday at Jubilee Gardens, close to the Water of Leith. Each year Stockbridge hosts a community festival, normally lasting 9 days at the end of June. It is a quaint and very popular residential location, with tenants of all ages and backgrounds.
