Description

This former working farm includes the former farmhouse and various outbuildings and barns, offering a huge amount of development potential (subject to planning consent). There is also a separate one bedroom cottage which is currently utilised as self catering holiday cottage. Meikle Aiden offers various opportunities which could include extended family or running a family business from home (again subject to planning).

Gated access to the property itself is off Barbour Road where there is a large parking area for multiple vehicles. The main farmhouse is thought to date back to around 1870's. On the ground floor there are two large reception rooms, both which have wood burning stoves and one with an adjoining study. The kitchen is a good bright space and is fitted with a range of modern units. There is ample space for dining furniture if required. There is also a sun room with views over the grounds and water beyond and a useful cloakroom. The upper level offers four spacious bedrooms, a family bathroom and separate WC. To the rear of the main farmhouse is a courtyard area which has access to a well proportioned one bedroom cottage.

Externally, Meikle Aiden Farm sits within grounds of around an acre and has various outbuildings and barns, with breathtaking views over the village and Clyde Estuary.

Location

Meikle Aiden occupies an elevated position above the village of Kilcreggan with wonderful views down the Firth of Clyde.

Today, Kilcreggan Pier remains the only traditional pier on the Clyde still in daily use. Many villagers commute to Glasgow in around an hour 15 minutes, either by road, or by passenger ferry, with a crossing time of around 15 minutes to Gourock. Glasgow Airport can generally be reached in around 1 hour under normal driving conditions. Kilcreggan has its own primary school and the local secondary school is at Helensburgh, the nearest town (16 miles) where Lomond School also provides excellent private schooling at primary and secondary level. Helensburgh is regarded as one of Scotland’s most desirable towns, with excellent local shopping, a swimming pool and golf course and Rhu Marina is nearby. Cove, the adjoining village to Kilcreggan, has a thriving social scene, with a Burgh Hall, Tennis and Bowling Club and excellent facilities for younger sailors to learn on Loch Long. Loch Lomond and the world-renowned Loch Lomond Golf Club are within 23 miles. Some of Britain’s most testing sailing waters are to be found on Scotland’s west coast
