Description

Rudby Hall is one of the most significant country houses in North Yorkshire. Listed Grade II*, the property was completed in 1838 to a design by the prominent architect Anthony Salvin for the 10th Viscount Falkland and husband of Amelia, one of King William IV’s daughters. The property is constructed of Ashlar sandstone under a Westmoreland slate roof and is presented to a very high standard. Whilst the infrastructure has been recently updated, the building retains a wealth of character and original features, with all the principal reception rooms and bedrooms looking onto the delightful parkland setting. In addition to the main property, which offers extensive accommodation, there is an ancillary property that provides excellent staff quarters or self-contained space for teenagers or dependent relatives.

In the 1980's Rudby Hall underwent a "ground up" restoration including the Westmorland slate roof, stone work and upgrading of the heating, plumbing and electrics with high quality commercial grade systems. The current owners have maintained the property to a high standard.

To the ground floor of the main house are the fabulous reception rooms of impressive proportions. The principal rooms are unspoilt retaining many exceptional period details including stunning fireplaces with ornamental surrounds, plasterwork and cornices. In addition to the formal rooms there is a generous family kitchen. The first floor offers flexible bedroom accommodation with further bedrooms on the second floor.

Ancillary Accommodation
The ancillary accommodation has been refurbished in recent years and is well presented. Recently, the property has afforded a useful rental income.

Outside
Rudby Hall is approached via a sweeping driveway leading to a pebbled forecourt parking area directly to the front of the property. The gardens are predominantly parkland and laid to lawn designed by Capability Brown, with a variety of mature specimen trees. To the West side of the house is a sheltered stone paved terrace, which fronts the kitchen and beyond this, level terraced lawns are protected by the high south-facing brick wall of the original kitchen garden, which is covered in climbing roses.

There is extensive space for private parking for both the main property and the ancillary property.

Method of Sale
The house is offered for sale by private treaty, however the Agents reserve the right to conclude negotiations by any other means at their discretion.

Services
Mains water and electricity. Sewage treatment plant. Bio-mass central heating system which benefits from a RHI.
