The property is believed to have been constructed in 1934 and is situated within open fields and approached off Ashlawn Road. It comprises a circular reinforced concrete cyclindrical core upon which sits a large drum shaped water container in two sections.
The central core contains an access staircase with door at ground level, and there is a ring of 12 reinforced concrete columns set around the edge supporting the drum. Notes indicate that the drum capacity is circa 500,000 gallons.
On the top of the tower are a number of telecommucation masts.
The tower sits within a fenced and grassed site of approximately 0.40 hectares (0.99 acres).
