Wonderful Edwardian Four Bedroom Family House In An Extremely Sought After Road In Hythe Kent.

Folkestone estate agents Your Key Move are very excited to bring to market this substantial Edwardian Semi-detached house.

This house is set in the very sought after North road in Hythe where houses rarely come available. The grandure starts with the huge private driveway which is shared by only four houses and provides ample parking for residents and visitors alike. There is a detached single garage included with this property which is perfect for storing a car or can be used for other useful storage needs.

Looking at the front of this fabulous house you will see that the property is set to the far right and benefits from extra land and space with a loverly old side gated entrance which leads past the conservatory into a private courtyard and then to the private south facing sea gardens and sun terrace area.

Stepping inside the grand front door you will instantly be taken aback by the tall ceiling and period features this property has to offer. The scale and character this property oozes will get any potential buyer very excited.

On the ground level you have an entrance hall with a cloakroom and old lift still in place. This lift is currently not working but could be bought back to life by the new owner if desired, or removed to provide additional space on both the ground and first floor. The kitchen features a wonderful range style cooker and has a handy pantry. There is access from the kitchen floor into the cellar which is large enough to stand comfortably in and extends the length of one side of the kitchen. There is power and lighting and this space would provide an excellent storage area or some other exciting uses, like possibly a wine cellar.

Off the hallway you have the gigantic drawing room with a feature fireplace and large bay windows which lead out onto the fabulous terrace area. There is also a door from the hallway into the light and modern conservatory room which has double doors leading to the terrace as well as another door which leads to the courtyard.

Stepping outside onto the terrace you will be delighted to see the wonderful views on offer as well as a glimpse into the large private garden which you can head down to. At the far end of the garden is an old summer house which shows you how much room is available for many garden options.

A right at the top of the first floor takes you into the double bedroom, a second right goes past the lift and into the family bathroom. Lastly a left from the landing leads into the master bedroom, and what a bedroom this is. With large floor to ceiling built in wardrobes lining the right hand side of the room and large windows and door leading out on the balcony, this room will delight anyone waking up in the morning or evening. Out on the balcony you have the most amazing views out over Hythe and towards the blue waters beyond.

Up on the second floor you will find a bedroom off to your right, with lovely sloping ceilings for added character and a large built in storage cupboard. Ahead of you is the top floor bathroom with a large velux roof window allowing you to relax in the bath while gazing at the stars, what a wonderful prospect. Finally a left from the landing is another large bedroom with built in wardrobes and a grand window with panoramic sea views to fill the room with light.

History

This house was built by the Mackeson brewing family in 1901.  They owned the Hythe Brewery that produced their famous milk stout. A local historian, Anne Petrie, is publishing a new book all about the family which is due to be released later in 2023. It's called 'Not Just Milk Stout: The Mackeson Family and their Hythe Brewery'. There are also historical documents at the Kent History and Library Centre that record approval of the plans for the house (previously known as The Dentals/Northlands). They record approval of Plan No 46 for Mrs Mackeson's house at a Bylaws Committee meeting on 3 Sep 1900.

Situation

This property is truly in a prime position, situated in a wonderfully elevated position behind the quaint Hythe high street with its many unique shops, restaurants and coffee bars but also minutes walk to the sea front featuring beautiful coastal walks and beautiful beaches, you couldn't wish for a better location. There are also convenient bus routes near by allowing you easy travel where and when needed.

There are also fantastic sports and leisure facilities with several nearby golf courses, tennis, bowls, cricket, squash and sailing clubs with the beach not far from the property.

Hythe is also perfect for commuting into London with a high speed rail service located in nearby Folkestone. The town also benefits from being in close proximity to the Euro Tunnel in Cheriton allowing easy access to the European Continent for your European adventures.  The M20 motorway seamlessly connects Hythe with other areas of the country.
