Vendor's Comments:
Giving you the flexibility to work from home surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of a quintessential English village and offering a not too onerous train ride to London when you really have to go into the office.
How would you like to own a cottage in the middle of a quaint and pretty Cotswolds village where folk stop and yarn over the wall as they pass by and admire your garden and pass the time of day, where the church green is a few steps away and the bells chime on wedding days?
Would you like a beautiful designed and cared for garden with a bijou ‘man shed’ that has been electrified, insulated, heightened and double glazed with a deck and porch? Not to mention the off street parking for 2 cars.
What about a quiet, Cotswolds quintessential pub so close you can walk there before the gin meets the tonic but with 3 foot thick traditional walls between each building so you don’t hear a peep?
The 1860’s cottage is well proportioned, beautifully adorned with central heating, gas to cook by in a small but chef ready kitchen (the owner is a chef) with the added advantage of a large pantry that also houses a fridge/freezer. Two double bedrooms with a feature fireplace in the main bedroom and a modern bathroom that has recently been renovated. There's even potential to add on a cloakroom to the rear of the property downstairs. Double glazing throughout ensures a peaceful balance of modern touches to a peaceful cottage experience.
The conservatory has been fully tiled and insulated to stay cool or cosy whatever the season – just as well suited for a sunlit workspace as for relaxing in the garden views. Designer blinds from Hillarys completes the transformation allowing for full light to come in through without losing the character cottage charm.
Neighbours are delightful but not intrusive and the village has a Dr's surgery, a post office/shop, garage, 3 pubs (try the Lamb for its ambience, delicious food and half price pizzas on a Sunday.) Further shops and facilities are available in Milton, just a 15 min walk away such as dentists, hairdressers, a vet, physio, a co-op and a library.
There are lovely walks in the wild gardens and surrounding countryside with the historic town of Burford and renowned private school just 4 miles away. Similarly distinguished Bloxham School is a 23 min drive away but there are several other nearby excellent schools with great Ofsted ratings.
Importantly, for matching village life with a city job, there's a railway station in the village with commuter trains direct to Oxford and London with a larger station a few miles away in Charlbury. It is just 50 mins direct to London Paddington from Oxford and there’s no changing from Charlbury or Shipton. And the Oxford Tube runs up to every 10 mins through the day and night with the express coach taking only 60 mins to reach your destination.
For shorter trips to nearby towns, the Wychwood Warbler community bus is just the ticket.
The house is offered as an end of chain property with the owners returning abroad.

Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on March 2, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on March 20, 2019 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
