York College is only a short distance (about a mile), York University can be accessed by car or bike and is about five miles away. The nearest Primary School is at Dringhouses (Ofsted Good 2019) just over half a mile away. The city offers a diverse range of primary and secondary schools including the popular Scarcroft Primary School (Academy), All Saints RC School (Ofsted Outstanding 2016) and Millthorpe School (Academy). Independent schools on offer are The Mount, St Peter's and Bootham.
The highly regarded and picturesque village of Bishopthorpe is just over a mile and a half away, the village boasts excellent schools as well as a nursery and playgroup. There are a number of amenities; three public houses, post office, local store, butchers, hairdressers, florist, café, village hall, library, sports and social club as well as doctors and dentist surgery.
