An extended family home with five bedrooms and modern interiors, set in an elevated position with views, yet convenient for Marlow High Street and Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School.

Description

This generously proportioned family home is situated in a quiet residential position a short distance from the High Street and within easy reach of attractive countryside. The property was originally built in the 1950s and has been extensively updated and enlarged to create a stylish and modern residence, with four double bedrooms and generous living spaces perfect for both family downtime and entertaining friends at home. The large windows and elevated position offer excellent natural light throughout, as well as allowing far-reaching views to the rear back over Marlow and Cookham. The interiors are extremely well presented to a high standard throughout, featuring modern kitchen and bathrooms, bright colours and premium fixtures and fittings.

The accommodation feels very spacious providing a thoughtful mix of open plan and separate spaces, making it ideal for family life. The entrance hall is airy and welcoming, and leads to the formal sitting room and onwards to the family room, a study, a cloakroom with WC and the real highlight: the open plan kitchen with its French doors opening to the rear terrace. The kitchen also benefits from a walk-in pantry and adjoining utility room, which has a separate shower and its own entrance so is ideal for bringing in muddy boots or pets. Upstairs there are four double bedrooms and a single, including a principal bedroom with dressing room and en suite, plus a lovely family bath/shower room.

The integral garage has been partly converted to create the family room, and offers a storage space at the front which is great for garden tools. The driveway has space for three or four cars. To the rear, the south facing garden is mostly lawned and is well enclosed by mature trees and hedges. There is also a summerhouse, but the highlight is the raised terrace which spans the back of the house and offers far-reaching views.

Location

Highfield Park is a highly desirable residential street just under a mile from Marlow’s vibrant high street. The position of the house gives it commanding views to the rear over Marlow and to Winter Hill on the opposite side of the river Thames.

Marlow town offers a superb range of retailers, with an eclectic mix of local independent and national names. There are numerous bars, cafes and restaurants dotted around the town offering destinations for any occasion. The town itself is situated on the banks of the river Thames and the Thames Path follows the river through the town.

Just outside the town, the area opens out to glorious rolling countryside and a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Outdoor pursuits are numerous, as are golf, football, cricket and rugby clubs.

Being a popular location for young families, Marlow offers numerous schooling ranging from prep schools to secondary schools, such as Sir William Borlase’s Grammar School and Great Marlow School.

For commuters, the town has a train station to Paddington (via Maidenhead, with the new Elizabeth Line operating), with fast trains also accessible from High Wycombe providing a 25-minute journey into London Marylebone. The M40/M4 motorways are accessed from the A404 which passes the town.

Directions

From the top of Marlow's High Street (at the war memorial roundabout) take the exit on West Street and head along the road for about a third of a mile. Turn right onto Highfield Park and continue up the road (ignoring the right-hand turn). Shortly after the road bends to the right, you’ll find the home on the right-hand side of the road.
