Hoath Wood is a wide-spanning plantation on ancient woodland (PAWS) set within the High Weald AONB.
The woodland stock itself is well mixed. Some areas of chestnut and birch have been recently coppiced but new growth is starting to come through, impressive oak still stand throughout the site. A large portion of the woodland sits on top of the hill allowing for wonderful 180-degree views. At lower levels, birch, chestnut, mature oak, hemlock, and holly can also be found.
Underfoot, the space is easy to navigate with wide tracks and woodland paths leading in and around the site. There are numerous open glades and flat areas which would make an ideal base for camping and woodland activities.
Hoath Wood is peaceful and private and is accessed by a shared gate. It also has its own private entrance at the top of the site with ample parking for a number of vehicles.
The local villages of Beckley, Northiam and Peasmarsh are just a few minutes away with shops and pubs. The historic town of Rye is also just a short drive making Hoath Wood ideally situated for exploring local walks and the coast.
District Council is Rother and the County Council is East Sussex.
Boundaries: The boundary is open to the north and west and borders woodland. To the south there is old fencing in place which follows a wide track and woodbank. The north east corner is fenced and borders neighbouring property and woodland.
Access: There is excellent vehicle access all year round via a private gate to the south and also a shared locked gate. Parking is possible within the woodland itself.
Viewing: You are welcome to visit this wood by yourself, but please download the details showing the location of the woodland and ensure that you have a copy of these sales details with you. For viewing purposes, park at the main entrance as marked on the map. Please don't block the gate.
Follow the track bearing left. After approximately 350m you will reach the main parking area to Hoath Wood.
Alternatively, walk back down Furnace Lane heading south until you reach the private gated entrance on your right.
