Funnel Wood is a fantastically light and spacious mixed woodland, overseen by towering Scots and Corsican pine.
As you wander further into the wood, both mature and young oak and yew can be found. Ash, holly, hazel, birch, willow and beech are also common. The south facing boundary looks out over fields giving the wood a very open feel.
There are good tracks throughout and numerous pleasant clearings, making it ideal for camping and woodland activities in a peaceful, private setting.
Set within Limekiln and Park Woods, a large woodland area in the High Weald, Funnel Wood is designated as Ancient Replanted Woodland (PAWS) by Natural England. This means the land has been wooded since at least 1600AD. An ancient wood bank found running through the north west of the wood and along the south east boundary. The current owners also have a felling and management plan in place.
Funnel Wood is in a great setting being only a short drive from the popular town of Crowborough and Tunbridge Wells. The Boars Head pub is also within easy walking distance from the wood.
District is Wealden and the County Council is East Sussex.
Boundaries: are well fenced along the main woodland track. To the south and neighbouring wood to the north east the boundary is staked and marked red.
Access: There is excellent vehicle access and parking is possible inside the woodland itself. The owner would have right of way on the hard tracks marked in blue on the map.
