Key information
Property description & features
- Tenure: Freehold
Corry Wood is a spacious, semi-mature woodland situated within the East Devon Area of Natural Beauty. The woodland has a lot of interesting characteristics, although there are numerous glades and open spaces the old quarry or chalk pit remains and when viewed from the footpath along the southern boundary or at various other high points, gives the woodland a feeling of enormous scale.
There are some impressive beech along the wood bank on the west and east side of the wood. Douglas fir is dominant throughout but also Scots pine, larch and some mature oak can be found on the southern boundary.
Fields lie to the south allowing lots of light into the woodland throughout the day making it an ideal wood for camping and family activities.
Perched on the top of Shute Hill, the woodland can be accessed from either the small village of Shute to the west or the larger Kilmington to the east which has two good pubs and a shop. The track from Shute is slightly steeper and longer, although the views to the west make up for the extra work. An off road vehicle is needed on either route but you can also park at the base of the hill and walk up, as shown on the map. Both Shute and Kilmington are just off the A35 and a short drive from the coast.
Ward is Newbridges and the County Council is East Devon
Boundaries are marked in blue along the woodland track to the north and west. Fields border the southern boundary and a bank of huge beech marks the east.
Access: There is good access via a hard track (marked in blue on the map) leading directly to the wood. Access is possible all year round with an off-road vehicle.
Viewing: You are welcome to visit this wood by yourself, but please download and print a map showing the location of the woodland and ensure that you have a copy of these sales details with you. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
