Chittle Wood is a beautiful, well mixed broadleaved woodland set on the edge of the Mole Valley, near the Hartland Devon Heritage Coast.

Mature oak and hazel are common throughout, beech, birch, ash, hawthorne and holly can also be found. The raised positions of the woodland and fields to the south allow lots of light to flood in, perfect for ground flora. Bluebells, ferns, wood anemones and wild garlic carpet the floor in season.
Numerous small streams cross the wood attracting an abundance of wildlife, deer and badgers being frequent visitors. There is a lovely clearing with a bench at the centre point of the wood, ideal for taking time to enjoy the surroundings.
Located in the quiet village of Chittlehamholt with an excellent pub, the woodland is ideally placed for days out and exploring. Barnstaple and the coast are just a 25-minute drive away. Further to the west the Devon and Cornwall Heritage Coast is within easy reach and to the north you'll find Exmoor National Park and also the North Devon AONB.
