Horsepond Wood is a wonderful semi-natural ancient woodland in The Chiltern Hills AONB.
The woodland forms part of the much larger Bensgrove and Abbotts Woods. Located on the outskirts of picturesque Pangbourne, is in an excellent location and also within easy access of London, Reading and Oxford.
Horsepond Wood would be perfect for new woodland owners or those with a young family wanting to enjoy the outdoors. The woodland is tucked away in a very private and quiet location. Just off the main bridleway, a wide private woodland path passes between huge beech and opens up into a large open area with an orchard-like feel.
Unusually, the large central area of the woodland has been planted with young oak, chestnut and birch requiring minimal management at this stage. The young trees are surrounded by wide clearings allowing in lots of light. Impressive mature beech to the east and conifers to the north and south and frame the woodland. Underfoot, grasses and moss cover the wide open glades making it a fantastic space for group camping and woodland activities.
Ward is Kidmore End and Whitchurch and the District County Council is South Oxfordshire
