Bluebell Wood is a wonderful example of ancient, semi-natural broadleaf woodland nestled deep within the High Weald.
Among the towering oak and beech trees, a rich tapestry of species thrives including chestnut, poplar, hazel, birch, ash, wild cherry, hornbeam, hawthorn and holly creating a diverse ecosystem. Ferns, grasses, and bluebells carpet the forest floor seasonally.
The woodland is well-spaced for the most part making navigation easy and tracks well-used by local deer lead you in and around the site. Along the northern boundary, adjacent to the fields, lies an impressive badger set, while a seasonal stream meanders through certain areas, enhancing the picturesque ambience.
With ample flat areas and open glades, Bluebell Wood offers an ideal setting for camping and various woodland activities. Its elevated and secluded atmosphere is further heightened by a substantial woodbank, rising at least 10 feet high to the south and west.
Conveniently located, the market town of Heathfield is a short drive away, offering local amenities, while a charming country pub is easily accessible on foot. For those seeking coastal adventures, the seaside is within convenient reach of this idyllic woodland.
The District Council is Wealden and the County Council is East Sussex
