ABOUT BROUGHTON

Broughton is an amazingly well connected and serviced Cambridgeshire village. London Luton and Stanstead airports are both about 1 hours drive away. Huntingdon (10 minutes drive) is an extremely well equipped town with retail and leisure parks, cinema and a railway station that can now connect you directly to Horsham (via Gatwick airport), or York going the other way. Huntingdon to London Kings Cross has multiple fast trains every morning averaging 45 minutes.

Cambridge is a 25 minute drive away. There is also a very reasonably priced guided bus that takes you straight to Cambridge city centre from St Ives - a 10 minute car ride away - where you can enjoy weekly markets, boutique shops and even hire boats. For health care, the local surgery called Moat House in Warboys (5 minutes away) is highly regarded locally, The Old School house dental surgery in St Ives, and the excellent and modern Hinchingbrooke Hospital just 10 minutes away.

The area is perfect for commuters, young families and anyone that loves the outdoors and looking for an escape. There is a bus that takes children to the local C of E primary school in Abbotts Ripton, and multiple nursery's available for those younger. Hinchingbrooke School, ajoining the grounds of Hinchingbrooke house is also a highly rated state school for those with older children.

The village has an amateur dramatics society and puts on a play in the village hall each year. There is a committee who arrange events such as film night, safari suppers, open gardens and flower shows - as well as an annual ball. The Crown pub located in the village, also runs beer and food festivals throughout the summer which brings many visitors in.

Broughton is a haven for anyone who has a real love for the outdoors, due to the large amount of rivers and countryside to explore. Nearby is Cambridge City Centre, a thriving university city. Here you can find everything from live music and events, theatre and talks, to a historical punting tour behind the beautiful university buildings. If you get tired out - Granchester meadows and the tea rooms set just back from the water serve clotted cream scones to help you recover. Closer to home, there are sound outsanding places to dine outside of the Crown pub located in the village - the Mermaid at Ellington, the Cock at Hemmingford Grey and the Abbots Elm at Abbotts Ripton. All are excellent places to eat, and between 0-15 minutes drive away. There is also a farm shop just 2 miles away which has also launched as a restaurant. As well as selling home grown UK produce, the owner also rears and sells rare meats like alligator and Zebra. The alligators can even been visited at the farm! The beaches at Holkham are among the best in the country located just over an hour away. Holkham hall hosts huge outdoor concerts and fairs all year round, and Burnham Market is the most amazing town, with a gorgeous hotel called The Hoste.
