Description

Spur Point is a remarkable and significant eight bedroom property set on the slopes of Marley Heights in Haslemere with 180 degree south-facing views across the South Downs National Park.

As well as offering an outstanding principal bedroom suite with 'his and hers' en-suites and dressing room with mezzanine level, there are three additional family bedrooms with en-suites, a guest suite bedroom with en-suite and two further bedrooms with shared bathroom. There is also a staff suite within the house and an additional annex with bedroom and living area above the double garage which is perfect for staff or occasional guests.

The lower ground floor of Spur Point is of particular note offering exceptional leisure facilities. There is a wine cellar, heated indoor swimming pool, spa including sauna and steam room, large gym with direct access to a loggia and the gardens beyond as well as a beautifully fitted 'Club Room' with bar / cinema / games room.

On the ground floor there are seven reception rooms including a family room, kitchen, dining room, drawing room, board room, study and children’s play room.

With a plot of almost 2 acres, the gardens at Spur Point are outstanding, having recently been designed by multi-award-winning landscaper Pollyanna Wilkinson. There is an outdoor heated swimming pool, tennis court and one of the most exceptional views in the South of England.

Having undergone an extensive renovation by Wolfe Design the property has a luxury 'London finish' with crittal doors, the house has a state of the art Control4 system, that integrates all aspects of the AV, security, heating and lighting for the property.

From the moment the gates swing open in the evening and the driveway illuminates, you are aware that you have arrived at a house which is highly sophisticated and smart. The AV system has Bowers & Wilkins speakers in all of the 16 zones and is capable of delivering music from sources like Spotify and Tidal to all areas simultaneously or in any desired combinations. The video distribution is 4K throughout the 12 zones in the property and can be fed from up to 10 sources.

The pinnacle of all of this is in the most wonderfully designed family area, incorporating bar area, games area and cinema. The cinema has been designed to the highest specification from both an audio and video perspective.

Location

Spur Point occupies an outstanding position on Marley Heights, a private road to the West of the A286, with extraordinary panoramic views to the South Downs. In addition to the benefits of its location within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the South Downs National Park, Marley Heights has the significant advantage of being just three miles from Haslemere, which sits on the border of Surrey, Hampshire and West Sussex and is one of the most popular market towns in this part of the world.

Haslemere town centre offers a good selection of local shopping in addition to banks, restaurants, pubs, schools, churches and its own Museum. A more extensive range of shopping, leisure and cultural amenities is available at Guildford or Chichester.

The A286 provides a link from Haslemere to Chichester and the south coast. The Hindhead Tunnel, which opened in 2011, has dramatically reduced the journey time to London by car along the A3.

Recreational activities within reach include golf at a number of local clubs; polo at Midhurst; racing and flying at Goodwood and sailing at Chichester Harbour. The surrounding countryside offers ample scope for walking and riding.

Square Footage: 13,567 sq ft

Directions

From London take the A3, heading South West. Go through the Hindhead Tunnel and come off at the slip road immediately after it. At the mini roundabout, turn right and cross over the A3. At the second mini roundabout, turn right towards Hindhead. Go straight over the next mini roundabout (past a garage on the left). You will arrive at a double mini roundabout, go straight over the first and turn right at the second onto the A287, heading towards Haslemere and Midhurst. Following a long left hand bend, turn right into Church Road, signposted A287 Midhurst. At the traffic lights go straight over into Sturt Road, heading towards Midhurst. Continue for approximately 1.3 miles. As the road begins to head uphill, turn right (not signposted), there will be a row of detached houses/cottages on the left once you have turned. At the small crossroads turn left, signposted Marley Heights, private road. Follow this road around several bends and up the hill. At the top of the hill the road will bend quite sharply to the right. After approximately 100 metres, the entrance to Spur Point will be on your left.

Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on May 23, 2024

Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:

    Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
    Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
    Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s

The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2

Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on May 23, 2024

Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:

Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services

Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on February 21, 2017 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.

Any supplementary data should not be relied upon as forming part of any property particulars and OnTheMarket cannot be held responsible for any incorrectness in this data. See here for more information.
