Sellers Comments
When we bought our first home in East Greenwich in 2005, a tiny house down by the river, we didn't imagine that we would ever be able to move up the hill to a house like this. When we came to view 30 Calvert Road in 2009 we loved the quiet street, the private garden, the high ceilings, period features and the light in the house, and instantly felt at home. Since then, we have loved living here - converting the loft to create our own peaceful haven full of light, and bringing up our two children here. We have tried to create a modern, light and airy home while keeping and restoring the Victorian features that attracted us to the house in the first place.
We have worked in various parts of London and have never found the travel a problem - there are so many options: multiple buses, the train, DLR and tube, and even the boat which we used when we worked at Tower Hill. On summer evenings we cycle along the river and out across Blackheath, or walk along to West Greenwich or into the flower garden in Greenwich Park. Our children went to a fantastic local nursery and now attend primary school (Halstow) and secondary school (John Roan), both just a short walk away, meaning they have local friends. There are lots of high quality activities for children (and adults) all within easy reach and the neighbours are really friendly, many of them having been in the street for years but also welcoming people from all over the world.
All this means we wouldn't think of leaving the area, so are planning to move locally, but this house, with its friendly feel, will always have a very special place in our hearts. Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on February 4, 2022
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on February 4, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
Energy Performance data and Internal floor area: obtained on August 10, 2009 from The Energy Performance of Buildings (Certificates and Inspections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007 or the Home Report if in relation to a residential property in Scotland.
