Stylish holiday properties close to Loch Lomond

Description

The Coach House, The Smiddy and The Stables form, as the names suggest, part of the former coach house to Arden House, a magnificent Scots Baronial mansion by architect John Burnet who it is thought also designed the coach house and stables. It is thought that Arden House and its coach house and stables date from around 1867-1868 when Sir James Lumsden, the recently knighted Lord Provost of Glasgow, acquired the estate and commissioned the renowned John Burnet.

The building as a whole is B Listed and has a distinctly Scottish flavour with its slate roof, blonde sandstone and turret. It was converted in 2004 and now has 5 properties in total.

The properties are presently run as a successful holiday lettings business; please contact our office for further information. The properties further benefit from having access to the jetty at Jetty lodge for launching boats on to Loch Lomond.

The Coach House
From the cobbled area at the front there is access to the hallway which opens into the open plan breakfasting/kitchen, where there are modern fitted floor and wall units, a door to the central courtyard, a blue oven, room for a breakfasting table, and windows to the side and rear. An inner hallway gives access to fabulous dining/sitting room with windows to two sides, feature brick fireplace and a central pillar. Completing the downstairs accommodation is a toilet and shower room. A fine wooden staircase gives access to the first floor where there are three spacious double bedrooms, two with en suite facilities.

The Stables
A glazed door from the front opens into an open plan sitting room/ dining/ kitchen, which has windows to the front and lovely high ceilings. The kitchen is to the rear and has floor and wall units along with an integrated oven and hob. A stairway leads to the first floor where there is a well appointed bedroom with en suite, fitted wardrobes and vanity unit.

The Smiddy
A glazed conservatory, which is a great place for relaxing, gives access to the Smiddy. From here is the generous lounge and dining area with original stonework. There is a hallway leading to a fully fitted kitchen with breakfast bar. A toilet and shower room complete the ground floor accommodation. On the first floor is a mezzanine bedroom.

Location

The property occupies a beautiful position within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Some of Britian’s most spectacular scenery is found around the Loch Lomond area. The loch is actually crossed by the Highland boundary fault and the physical characteristics of lowland and highland Scotland can be seen within a few miles of each other. There is superb climbing and hill walking in the area, with the Arrochar Alps including four Munros (mountains over 3000 ft) and six Corbetts, the best known of which is The Cobbler.

The loch is renowned for its water sports including wind surfing, sailing and excellent water skiing. There are a number of well respected golf courses in the area including the world famous Loch Lomond Golf Course which is around 10 minutes away by car.

Helensburgh is approximately six miles away and has good shopping facilities including a choice of supermarkets, along with local primary and secondary schooling, while private education is available at Lomond School. Both Helensburgh and Balloch railway stations have regular train services with a journey time to Glasgow of around 40 minutes. Glasgow can be accessed by car, under normal driving conditions, in around 40 minutes. Glasgow Airport provides regular domestic and international flights to a wide variety of destinations and is around 30 minutes drive by car under normal driving conditions.
