First listed as occupied in 1870 by David Milbourne (county police sergeant) with three of the first 9 houses in the terrace lived in by cloth workers/weavers. Late 19th century Bath maps show sites and terraces opposite named as Cooks Buildings, Soundwell Cottages and Midland Cottages. Charles Wilkins operated on the Cooks Buildings site as part of his woollen cloth business in the early 19th century and it later became a carpet factory. In 1891, W & R Cook Ltd began manufacturing ready made clothing at the mill. Cook's ceased working in the 1960s and the buildings were pulled down in 1965.
