Property description & features

  • Tenure: Freehold
An exceptional family home with very well-proportioned and light rooms, including six beautiful bedrooms and delightful gardens.

THE PROPERTY
Tucked away on the edge of the most delightful village, first glimpses of this wonderful 18th century property are most impressive with its hugely attractive facade constructed of natural stone under a pitched slate roof.

On first entering the property there is a real sense of charm, space and light, the property having recently undergone a fastidious programme of works resulting in a truly fabulous family home. Walking around the house it is almost impossible not to smile, with stylish and contemporary accommodation to suit most families' needs. Surprisingly not listed, there is now a perfect juxtaposition of old and new, with open fireplaces and wood burning stoves, exposed timbers and newly fitted solid oak floors and doors, and oak architraves throughout most of the house.

Worth a special mention is the truly fantastic open plan family kitchen which exemplifies modern living with a large central island and plenty of room for a breakfast/dining table. Like many rooms in the house, it boasts views over the delightful gardens and unspoilt countryside beyond. Also on the ground floor is a large family room with a vaulted ceiling, ideal for entertaining on a large scale, but this space could be put to a number of uses such is the flexibility of this incredible property.

The principal bedrooms are situated on the first floor, with four beautiful bedrooms including a main bedroom with an en suite bathroom and dressing room. On the second floor there is a further converted loft space with an additional bedroom, study, and spacious sitting room/bedroom 6, ideal for teenage children and/or guests.

OUTSIDE
The property is approached via a quiet village lane where you are greeted by an impressive stone entrance with wrought iron gates opening onto a private driveway with ample parking. There is a large triple bay oak framed car port.
The gardens are an absolute delight including a fantastic walled kitchen garden with raised beds, timber fruit cage, greenhouse, brick potting shed and clay oven. From the kitchen there are double doors opening out onto a large paved terrace ideal for al fresco dining. There is a large lawn, a utopia for children and animals. The eastern boundary of the property there is a small paddock bordered by the River Mangerton. In all the gardens extend to over 1 acre.

All in all, this is a truly wonderful family home in an idyllic yet very convenient location.

LOCATION
Forsters is situated in a delightful position, on the northern edge of the thriving village of Bradpole. The village has the pretty Holy Trinity Church, village hall and a butcher's shop. The vibrant and popular market town of Bridport is about 1.5 miles to the south, and is a pleasant walk into town, largely along the pretty riverside walk through Happy Island. Bridport retains an excellent number of independent shops and restaurants and a thriving street market held on Saturdays and Wednesdays, along with an interesting vintage quarter. There is also a good Cottage Hospital, a large Medical Centre, popular Leisure Centre, a successful Arts Centre and a number of independent festivals involving the Arts which are held throughout the year. Several supermarkets, including Waitrose, are also in the town.

Within convenient driving distance is the County Town of Dorchester which has an excellent range of facilities including shops, restaurants, public houses and supermarkets, and Dorchester County Hospital. Also worth a mention is the vibrant development at Brewery Square with its cinema, bars, restaurants and leading shops. There are two railway stations with regular services to London Waterloo and Bristol in Dorchester as well as mainline railway stations to London Waterloo in the nearby towns of Crewkerne and Axminster.
