Seller Insights
“I came here in 2018 and was really attracted to the lovely Georgian symmetry of the house. I renovated the property initially and then, during Covid, decided to extend it at the back. In keeping with the rest of the house, the bricks are all handmade and specially selected to satisfy the planning department. The flat roof is fibreglass with lead flashings and, conveniently, you can step onto the roof from a bedroom window to clean the lantern; the glazing and doors have black aluminium frames. Fortunately for me, the previous owner had recently replaced all the windows with new timber ones to replicate the old although they are double-glazed so the house is lovely and warm.”
“As I intended to stay here long-term I transformed the house to be of the very best standard and installed top quality fixtures and fittings. A completely new bathroom was put in and in 2021 a new gas boiler, as well as new radiators everywhere. The flooring is all solid oak and porcelain tiles and the kitchen and utility areas are fitted with matching handmade units with oak worktops and two double Belfast sinks.”
“Tackling the garden was a huge task. Before, there was a patio at the back but the rest of the garden was at a far higher level so I had literally hundreds of tons excavated and the surrounding retaining brick walls built along with erecting the slatted timber screening. It has been professionally landscaped laying stone paving for the patios and path leading to the parking area, and I chose to have David Austen roses, lavender borders and lots of perennials in the beds which are a delight when they all start emerging in the spring. It’s nice and private and a real sun-trap as it faces south and west.”
“The position is excellent as it is close to the high street so the Co-op is only a 5 minute walk; in fact everything is within a ten minute walk including the station. There are footpaths that lead in every direction around here and Drury Street leads into the Blankney Estate which is fantastic so it’s perfect for walking the dog.”
