Property description & features

PRIVATE COURTYARD

SIGNATURE SUITE

APPROX 51SQM/549SQFT

BUTLER

DUPLEX LAYOUT

Thanks to the influence of Malcolm McLaren, the Sex Pistols lived, recorded, and rehearsed in this mews house behind No. 6 Denmark Street. Originally intended for Badfinger, the house hosted numerous sessions, including one where Johnny Rotten etched the Pistols’ mark on the walls, drawing caricatures of himself and his bandmates. It was here they recorded demos for "Anarchy in the UK" and "Pretty Vacant."

Set back with its own private courtyard, this Signature Apartment lets guests sleep in a piece of history. The duplex mews house epitomizes punk prowess and versatility, featuring tartan and sheer Roman blinds, and statement upholstered graffitied chairs. In true punk rock spirit, the living space upstairs houses Johnny Rotten’s storied caricatures. The apartment, complete with a kitchenette maxi-bar and bold furniture designs, pays direct homage to the building's history. The bedroom downstairs features a black Murphy bed, flanked by marbled moulin noir bedsides and modernized vintage chairs.

John Lydon's hand-drawn caricatures wrap almost the entire room, leading to the building's upgrade to Grade II* listed status by Historic England. Coinciding with Punk’s 40th Anniversary, these drawings were deemed as significant as prehistoric cave paintings. Additionally, there’s a replica of Steve Jones' Les Paul hanging on the wall.

A 65-inch screen complements the sound system, courtesy of world-renowned audio manufacturers Void and Artcoustic, appealing to music lovers with similar spirits. The statement bathrooms feature a large walk-in shower with marbled floors and deep forest green tiles. Bronze and brass finishes across taps, faucets, and shower heads create a classic aesthetic rooted in contemporary style.

Some of our buildings retain original staircases and feature narrow, short door heights due to their heritage status. We understand this may be restrictive to some guests, so please let us know if you need further information.
