A Brief History

The Floral Hall, today known as Ocean Room, opened in
1939 as a dance hall where many friends and families
gathered for formal events as well as boxing matches,
discos and gigs. The Gorleston Lido was among the
popular attraction of the building. It’s heated seawater pool
attracted 2,000 people to swim and bathe in the sunshine.
This was later demolished in 1993.

In 1975, The Floral Hall was taken over and renamed
‘Ocean Room’ . It is known for it’s large club nights and
bingo events.. Many celebrity appearances were made
including, S Club 7, Mike Tyson, Tyson Fury, Joey Essex
and recently, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man in 2020.

Throughout the decades, the venue remained to be a
popular place of high spirit and entertainment
