“Many, many years ago whilst training to be a carpenter, my tutor told me that every tradesman has to set the standard that he works too, and that you should never do anything in anyone else’s house that you would not do in your own. This has made my professional career considerably more difficult as I am incredibly fussy about even the smallest details in my home!!
Over the 23 years that I have lived at 139 Griffin Road I have renovated the complete building. I installed a silent floor system for the kitchen and 2nd bedroom floors in addition to the two independent soundproof ceilings installed throughout the basement flat, and when sound tested the sound separation rating was far beyond the levels of sound proofing required to meet the relevant building control standards for a new build property. I have applied the same thinking with regards to heat insulation by insulating walls and roofs. In addition to extensive insulation installed to the main roofs, there is 150mm of insulation between the bedroom ceilings and the loft room floor. I’ve installed numerous additional power sockets throughout the property, along with category 6 broadband cabling. There are also many built in features throughout, such as pull out draws to form bedside tables on both sides of the bed in the main bedroom, along with printer and filing draws by the kitchen dining table, used by my children when doing their homework. It’s been a wonderful home for me, my wife and our children.”
