Only a short stroll from Blackhorse Road Underground, Walthamstow Market, and Walthamstow Wetlands – a 211-hectare nature reserve – this characterful Victorian house promises peace and tranquillity while being just a stone’s throw from excellent pubs, eateries, and shops, all within easy commuting distance of Central London.
The property has been within the same family for over forty years, and the current owners have fond memories of it as a lovely family home, now ready for the new owners to begin redesigning it into their dream home.
As it stands, the house features a spacious living room, a kitchen and bathroom, and two double bedrooms. However, the sizable south-facing rear garden offers plenty of potential to take the renovation to the next level by extending to create a high-spec dining kitchen. A loft conversion could also be on the cards, subject to planning and consent.
The house sits in a quiet cluster of residential streets lined with trees and attractive Victorian terraced homes. Fronted by a variegated brick exterior with stone lintels to the bay window and entrance, the property is set behind a low brick wall and a wrought-iron gate opening to the front patio.
Fanlights on the new front door and a transom window above illuminate the hallway beyond. Here, the high coved ceiling continues in the living room to your right, which also features picture rails and a double-glazed canted bay window.
You can access the kitchen from the hallway or the living room, passing a useful understairs storage cupboard. With a good range of cupboards, an integrated cooker, a 1.5-bowl sink and space for a laundry appliance, a freestanding fridge freezer, and a dining table, it’s a comfortable size for cooking while you decide your next steps.
Upstairs, you’ll find two well-proportioned double bedrooms. Two tall windows brighten the master bedroom, which has a coved ceiling and built-in storage, while a south-facing window frames the garden in the rear double. Both rooms have access to a three-piece garden-facing Jack-and-Jill bathroom housing the boiler, which was replaced in 2007.
Outside, the south-facing garden is laid with paving and enclosed with fencing and flowerbeds, currently planted with roses, sunflowers, and vegetable plants such as sweetcorn and tomatoes.
A NOTE FROM THE OWNERS
‘We have enjoyed growing up in an area that is close to Central London but quiet enough to relax and reflect. We have many fond memories of Mum cultivating the garden and spending time with family in the living room. Being so close to Blackhorse Road Tube station and Walthamstow Market, while still being in a peaceful location, has been a huge bonus.’
