On the market for the first time in nearly 70 years, this is one of the oldest houses in Swansea, originally built in 1780 and extended in the 19th century.  The Coach house was commissioned by Thomas Eaton along with the main house “Brynymor” on the estate. Thomas Eaton was a plantation owner in the West Indies who sold his business and moved to Swansea. He was survived by his son Robert Eaton who then lived at the main house.  Robert Eaton was an Abolitionist and Quaker. 

The main house was razed to the ground by fire on the night of October 1st 1867, and the Eaton family sought refuge that night in the Coach House.  The main house was rebuilt following the fire and still stands today, as Stella Maris Convent.

Originally the Coach house had no house number as there were no other houses in Eaton Crescent,  as other houses were built it became number 10 Eaton Crescent. Further houses were built in Eaton Crescent and so the property was renumbered again by resolution of the council  on 15th July 1908 and it became number 19.
