Property description & features

'I have had such joy living in the house which once only resided in my mind as a dream. Needless to say that my design aesthetic and attention to detail runs through the very heart of the property into each and every room. There is not a single room without a custom piece of joinery, timber panelling or inbuilt solid timber cupboards.

One of my favourite things is that I have a range of unique places to sit and reflect during the day. I like to take a coffee in the kitchen, sitting at the family table, read a magazine in the sitting room, sprawled on the sofa with a blanket, and I find focus on the top floor, where I use one of the bedrooms as a home office.

My neighbours are the best I could have ever asked for. Their support and help during the build, the summer BBQs we've shared, the Christmas gatherings we've held; I have such fond memories of our time on Clark Street together.'

This four double bedroom home, now measuring around 1400 square feet, is an exquisite example of an injection of beautifully considered and adventurous architecture into a classic Bristol period home. This terraced home has been not only extended to the second floor and rear but has also been widely rebuilt throughout by its current architect owner, with an incredible eye for detail.

The hub of the house is the striking kitchen/diner with bi-fold doors out to the garden. The extension has been designed with a concealed structural frame, adding to its slick appearance from both inside and out. The space has a great feeling of height and light, rarely enjoyed by more modest extensions but cleverly incorporated into this space.

The top floor of the house has been extended to maximise space, whilst remaining sympathetic to the timeless street scene. This has been achieved through a precise angle of the rood, which conceals the loft extension behind the parapet wall. This design of extension was the first of its kind to be approved in Bristol, our client tells us. Internally, the owner has created scandi-inspired bedrooms with exposed timber-coffered walls.

The house has an abundance of quality features, with column radiators throughout and stylish bathroom fittings to the family bathroom and the downstairs shower room. Decor has been carefully considered throughout, both to enhance the character and charm of the house but also to accentuate the changes and design decisions which are on show. Behind the aesthetics, comprehensive work has also been done to electrics, heating and plumbing, as well as to add some triple glazing to make this a practical and extremely energy efficient home.

This impressive home is situated in a quiet position on Clark Street, a hugely accessible spot on the edge of Easton and Bristol City Centre. The street is well placed for a commute into Bristol City Centre, Cabot Circus or to Temple Meads on foot or by bike. The Bristol to Bath cycle path also begins just a short distance from Clark Street and Easton Leisure Centre is just a few minutes walk away. At the same time, its proximity to both the M32 and the A431 to Bath means it's easy to escape the city. Easton and St Judes are vibrant neighbourhoods that offer an abundance of community events and activities. Nearby, St Marks Road boasts a number of Bristol's finest shops and restaurants, such as Bristol Sweet Mart and the Thali Café, whilst Stapleton Road and Old Market High Street offer more popular independents. This is a bustling area, with all Bristol has to offer on the doorstep making it ideal for families and for young professionals.

This house is marketed with no onward chain.
