43 Retreat Road is a fine example of a 1930s Topsham house, situated in a favoured residential road. The current owners have undertaken an impressive and comprehensive schedule of enlargement and improvements,
whilst retaining the character features so typical of a property of its age, with bay windows, high ceilings, and fireplaces. These improvements include a new ground floor extension with a kitchen, loft conversion, new garden office, bathrooms, carpets, and rewiring. A new front door leads to a welcoming hallway, of which are the principal rooms.
The sitting room has a feature fireplace and bay window. To the rear is a wonderful open-plan family/kitchen/dining room. The modern kitchen, with a Neff oven and microwave, integral fridge and freezer, dishwasher, large corner cupboard, and feature lantern light and doors to the rear garden.
Of further note is a separate utility room, with a cloakroom. On the first floor are 2 double bedrooms, a single bedroom, and a modern family bathroom.
The loft has been converted into a wonderful principal bedroom with a modern ensuite shower.
Off the road is an enclosed front garden. To the rear, doors lead out to a patio, with level low maintenance lawn, a DETACHED GARDEN OFFICE fitted with a built in electric ceiling flush projector screen, electrically controlled blinds & 7.1 surround sound system.
To the rear, and accessed by a service road, is a carport for 2 small cars, or 1 larger one, with an EV charging point.
Situation
Topsham remains an estuary town of nationwide renown, reflected in its characterful period cottages and houses, perfectly blended with a range of more modern homes. Its excellent amenities range from a splendid individual-styled parade of shops, to churches, restaurants, several pubs, a school, as well as a bowling and sailing club. There is also a frequent bus service and a train link between Exmouth and Exeter. Topsham is only 6 miles from Exeter Airport with regular flights to City Airport as well as many other destinations. The town was listed at the time of Domesday as 'Topeshant' and flourished as an estuary port for nigh on five centuries. Topsham also became world-renowned for ship-building reaching its zenith between 1750 and 1870.
Directions
From the Topsham office, turn left and continue along Fore Street, crossing over the roundabout into High Street. After approximately 200 yards turn left into Retreat Road. The property will be found approx. 200m on the left hand side.

OnTheMarket may have applied supplementary data to this property listing, including:
Broadband availability and predicted speed: obtained from Ofcom on April 16, 2022
Broadband speed is measured in megabits per second, with the number returned showing how fast the connection is. Each reading is based on the highest predicted speed of any major broadband network for services that deliver the download speeds. The following are the different readings that we may display:
Basic: Up to 30 Mbit/s
Super-fast: Between 30 Mbit/s and 300 Mbit/s
Ultra-fast: Over 300 Mbit/s
The data is updated three times a year. The checker results are predictions and should not be regarded as guaranteed. For more information, see: https://checker.ofcom.org.uk/en-gb/about-checker#Answer_0_2
Mobile phone signal availability and predicted strength: obtained from Ofcom on April 16, 2022
Mobile signal predictions are provided by the four UK mobile network operators: EE, O2, Three and Vodafone. Predictions can vary significantly from the coverage you may actually experience as a result of local factors (especially terrain). Ofcom has tested the actual coverage provided in various locations around the UK to help ensure that these predictions are reasonable. The values shown against a property can be broken down as follows:
Clear: No bars, no signal predicted
Red: One bar, reliable signal unlikely
Amber: Two bars, may experience problems with connectivity
Green: Three bars, likely to have good coverage and receive a data rate to support basic web services
Enhanced: Full bars, likely to have good coverage indoors and to receive an enhanced data rate to support multimedia services
