Property description & features

Description
Glenmill Cottage is a very pretty, archetypal rural cottage with historic origins. It has been formed from an historic former farm workers cottage which was carefully and sensitively extended and redeveloped in the 1980’s. The present home now provides comfortable living and guest space.

The house is a combination of white painted stone and harled exterior and the whole is under a slated roof. The structure has been arranged to form a pretty and sheltered south facing courtyard. Internally the house is nicely laid out with easily managed light and bright apartments laid out across a single level. Glenmill Cottage will appeal to both young and elderly alike and the extent of the gardens are such that, strictly subject to planning consent, it may be possible to significantly increase the property footprint.

Glenmill Cottage imbues a feeling of warmth and welcome. It is in an absolutely lovely setting only a few miles from Kilmacolm and it can be easily characterised as a quite delightful bucolic property. It is set amid lovely and well stocked country gardens which are laid in the main to grass with mature hedges, trees, rhododendrons and mixed shrubs and bushes.

Situation
Glenmill Cottage is located in a wonderful rural setting about 2 miles southwest of the village of Kilmacolm and about 3 miles to the northwest of Bridge of Weir. Both villages have shops and services catering for everyday needs and requirements. There are pleasant cafes and country pubs with a warm welcome. The area is well served by schooling, including Gryffe High School, known for its academic achievement record and St Columba’s, one of the best known and sought after independent schools in central Scotland.

Glasgow city is only 17.5 miles to the east and before reaching the city are the Braehead and Silverburn retail villages with their range of high street multiples and major anchor stores.

West Renfrewshire has extensive leisure facilities, numerous golf courses and outdoor pursuits and field sports. Chandlery and marina services are available on the Firth of Clyde, together with access to some of the most dramatic sailing in the west coast.

Surrounding countryside is some of the most attractive in West Renfrewshire and for the outdoor enthusiast this is fine walking country. The Sustrans cycle track leads to many other parts of central Scotland.

Knapps Loch in Kilmacolm, at the south side of the village, is famed for its brown trout angling. The River Gryffe has runs of salmon at the back end, the salmon of which spawn in the Burnbrae Burn. Both the Gryffe and Knapps require fishing permits. There are some small low ground shoots run locally as well as rough shooting, both of which can be arranged with local land/estate owners.

The business model of Estate Agency and Lettings distribution has changed, no longer do people pour over local papers searching for their dream home; no longer do they need to look in estate agents' windows or queue to discuss search criteria with estate agency or lettings receptionists. In recognising this, we have changed too, we have evolved to develop an efficient business model which pro-actively distributes property globally via our well managed database and digitally via the world wide web. Good systems are important to us, however, Estate & Lettings Agency is a people business, our people have been carefully selected for their scope of property and customer interfacing expertise. We recruit intelligent, clear thinking and articulate property professionals.
