The local towns of Gillingham, Wincanton, Sherborne, Frome and Shaftesbury provide a further range of shops, business and recreational facilities. The cities of Bath and Salisbury also provide a wide range of shops and cultural opportunities.

Sporting opportunities are readily available with racing at Wincanton, Salisbury and Bath. Golf is available at Wincanton and Sherborne. There is plentiful walking and riding in the area with direct access to walking cycling and horseriding from Coneygore

Further afield to the south are the stunning beaches of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast in Dorset.

The area offers an excellent selection of schools which include Port Regis prep school, Hazelgrove prep school, Sherborne prep & senior school, Sherborne Girls, All Hallows prep school, Leweston prep & senior school, Kings School, Bruton, Millfield prep and senior school, Dauntseys, Bryanston and Wells Cathedral School. Further afield schools include Wellington College and Marlborough College.

There are also excellent state and grammar schools nearby such as Bishop Wordsworth’s Grammar School and South Wilts Grammar School in Salisbury and Gillingham School Dorset

Communications in the area are excellent with the nearby A303 providing a direct east west route linking to London via the M3. There is a regular inter-city service from Castle Cary, to London Paddington, taking about 90 minutes or from Gillingham taking about 1 hour 50 minutes
