Description

A'Mhoine Bheag is an architect-designed turf-roofed stone-clad lodge completed to a high standard in 2012. Set in a wonderful, elevated position on the Oa Peninsula of Islay, the property enjoys spectacular panoramic views of the moorland and coastline.
A'Mhoine Bheag boasts idyllic outlooks over Glenastle Lochs and the Atlantic Ocean, with a scenic backdrop of Orsay and the distinctive Rhinns of Islay Lighthouse.

The accommodation begins with an entrance hallway with WC off leading to a fabulous open plan living room with floor to ceiling windows with panoramic views, Caithness slab heated flooring and a wood burning stove. The well-proportioned dining kitchen boasts an excellent range of contemporary units and integrated appliances including an electric range cooker with ceramic hob. The lodge features two luxurious en suite oak-floored bedrooms with bath and shower and a private Helo Finnolme sauna.

The property sits in around 0.5 acres of private grassed grounds and has space for parking multiple vehicles.

A’Mhoine Beg has been used as a successful self-catering holiday let in recent years; further details are available from the selling agent.

Location

The most southerly of Argyll's islands, Islay lies approximately 20 miles off the mainland of Scotland. The island benefits from the warming effect of the Gulf Stream and boasts white sandy beaches and a variety of plants, birds and other wildlife.
Islay enjoys a rich cultural heritage which it celebrates in the form of Feis Ile, the annual festival of malt and music, a summer jazz festival and classical music at the Cantilena Festival. Integral to the culture and history of the island are the world famous malt whisky distilleries. All are open to the public and provide a valuable source of employment for the islanders.
The main town on the island is Bowmore, which offers a useful range of shops for daily needs. Port Ellen is home to the ferry terminal and marina. There are excellent opportunities for sporting activities such as walking, fishing, sailing and golf on the renowned 18 hole Machrie Golf Course.
Coillabus is situated on the Oa peninsula, around 4 miles from the ferry port at Port Ellen and around 22 miles from Port Askaig.

There are Calmac car ferry crossings from and to Kennacraig on the Scottish mainland, and good public transport links.

Twice daily Loganair flights are operated from Glasgow Airport. Taxis and car hire can be arranged from the airport and bike hire is available in Port Ellen.
