Description

The Oak House is a property designed and built in 1996 by award winning Border Oak; specialists in the design and construction of unique oak framed buildings. It is a bespoke design and a fine example of this style of property. The Oak House is situated between the thriving market towns of Ludlow and Church Stretton, nestled below the well known Wenlock Edge.

The property is approached by a private driveway and a key selling point of this wonderful home is the extensive, secluded and tranquil gardens, that extend to around an acre. The house is beautifully designed with traditional oak timber frame, exposed beams and leaded windows to some of the rooms.

The accommodation is laid out over two floors, with the front door opening into the entrance hall which has a separate cloakroom and the formal dining room in front of you, which is fitted with bookcases to one wall and has views over the gardens. The spacious drawing room is a lovely space, with an inglenook fireplace and Clearview wood burning stove, a door leading to a separate study/playroom and double doors leading into the conservatory, which is an addition to the original property in about 1997. Doors lead onto the patio and gardens offering a wonderful lifestyle.

The kitchen breakfast room has solid pine wall and base units, space for a dishwasher, an electric hob, integrated electric oven and views over the garden. The breakfast area offers an additional space either for dining or as further reception space. There is a separate pantry with space for additional storage and space for a fridge and a freezer, and a door to a back hallway, where there is a utility room with a Belfast sink, built in units, space for white goods and a door leading to the spacious rear courtyard and side door access to the garage.

Stairs rise from the entrance hall to the first floor and landing area. The principal bedroom is triple aspect with views over the gardens and Wenlock Edge. There is a built-in double wardrobe and an en suite shower room which has been recently updated. Bedrooms two and three are both doubles, and three has built in wardrobes. Bedroom four is a spacious single room. The main bathroom has a corner bath and separate shower along with built in units. In addition, there is an airing cupboard and a double storage cupboard.

Outside

The Oak House has extensive gravel parking area to the front which has ample space for a number of vehicles, along with a separate double garage. The gravel driveway continues around to the side of the house which becomes lawn with mature borders planted with shrubs.

The extensive lawn extends away from the back of the house within high hedged boundaries and mature trees. Within the grounds are two ancient pear trees, two ancient nut trees, Silver Birch, Horse Chestnut, Amelanchier, Rowan trees, a Copper Beech, Rhododendrons and Acer Drummondii. There is a separate stone log store and beyond the garden, closer to the courtyard is a summer house.
