While navigating off the main track can be challenging in some areas, there are several flat, grassy spots along the river that are easier to access. On the western side of the river, the woodland consists mainly of conifer trees, making it easier to explore.

Situated just a few miles from Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coastline, Yawl Cross is ideally placed for local adventures. The nearby market town of Axminster offers a range of conveniences, including shops, restaurants, and the Axe Valley Wildlife Park, catering to families with young children. The Hunters Lodge pub is also within walking distance from the woodland.
