A beautiful and characterful former Vicarage of just under 7000sqft with gated driveway, integral double garage, outbuilding and swimming pool surrounded by stunning gardens set next to the village green less than six miles from Estelle Manor, Woodstock, The Dragon School, Central Oxford and Oxford Parkway Station.

Believed to have been rebuilt in 1793 as a square farmhouse of two storeys with attics. It continued to be used as a farmhouse until 1888 when it was greatly enlarged by the vicar, Godrey Faussett, who bought land to extend the site and encased the old house in a new building. A dominant feature of the garden is the huge mulberry tree planted by Faussett during the renovation of the Vicarage.

Gardens and Grounds
Externally, the property benefits from electric gates, opening into an extensive parking area, and a double garage. A dining terrace adjoins the house and looks out over the delightfully secluded gardens which surround the house. There is also the benefit of a swimming pool.

The magnificent oak staircase and the oriel window over the staircase were gifts from Christ Church Deanery to the Vicarage. Faussett was a great friend of H.G. Liddell, the Dean of Christ Church. He was also the father of Alice for whom Charles L. Dodson (better known by his pen name 'Lewis Carroll') wrote “Alice in Wonderland”. As Dodson was a don at Christ Church and the three men were good friends, it is imagined that Alice and her siblings might have been regular visitors to the vicarage.

Cassington is a lovely village of mostly cottages centred with a village green just a few miles from Oxford, situated between the larger villages to Yarnton and Eynsham.

It has a well-regarded Primary School, a fine Parish Church with Norman origins, two public houses an excellent, modern village hall, a plant nursery, playing fields, tennis courts and allotments.

Conveniently situated almost equidistant between Oxford and Witney, the village's popularity has further increased due to its close proximity to the Long Hanborough and Oxford Parkway railway stations which both connect with London.
