Description

Longbridge House is a house of two halves, consisting of the original characterful period part of the Grade II listed building (believed to date from the 16th century), which is linked to the fabulous contemporary extension by a stunning glass entrance hall. The current owners have successfully combined the satisfaction of all modern day living requirements whilst retaining and enhancing the integral character of the property. The contemporary addition offers a stylish, recently refitted kitchen / dining room with central island and bi-fold doors, opening into a light and spacious living / reception area, again with bi-fold doors and affording wonderful views of the gardens. There is a modern double sided bio-fuel fireplace between the kitchen and the sitting area. The reception rooms within the old part of the house are numerous, beautifully presented, cosy and inviting, each with its own character. The rooms include a sitting room, family room, library, snug and study, plus a wine cellar and a spacious conservatory.
There are two staircases to the first floor, with a handcrafted stylish staircase from the dining room leading to a landing off which is the principal suite and a guest room. The former consists of a generous bedroom with incredible floor to ceiling glass and additional picture windows, from which the most
breathtaking views of the grounds and unspoiled countryside well beyond can be enjoyed. There is also a dressing area and an en suite shower room. The four additional bedrooms all benefit from en suite shower rooms or bathrooms.

OUTSIDE

Approaching the house from the lane, the driveway leads to a large area which offers generous parking, which can accommodate numerous cars with a central tree feature. The detached garage has double doors to the side giving access to a useful store room which could in fact be used as a home office or gym.
A further detached building / annexe serves as an office but could be utilised as overflow accommodation, with the benefit of an adjoining shower room. It is beautifully presented, with light cascading in from two velux windows.
Well tended gardens surround the house, they are largely laid to lawn, interspersed and bordered by a variety of trees and shrubs. It is simply a delight to walk along by the side of the River Pang with the right to exclusive use of the small island which forms part of the property. The Owners enjoy fishing rights on the nearby bank and double bank fishing rights on the part of the island adjoining the property’s boundary. An area of decking adjacent to the house provides the ideal spot for entertaining and relaxing whilst enjoying the tranquillity and the views.

Location

Longbridge House lies on the outskirts of the pretty village of Tidmarsh which is within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Enviably located down a long lane in a tranquil and private setting, it is located only about one mile away from the village of Pangbourne, which has an excellent range of
shops including a small supermarket, artisan baker, award winning butchers and cheese shop, as well as pubs, cafes, post office, pharmacy and schools. Locally, the River Thames offers picturesque walks and access to the popular villages of Streatley and Goring, whilst Theale with its vibrant village high street is more accessible locally. A renowned farm shop is also accessible locally.
Pangbourne offers a mainline train station with an excellent service to London Paddington in under an hour. The town of Reading provides a wide range of shopping, dining, cultural and leisure options as well as a fast train service to London Paddington (in as little as 23 minutes) and direct access to the Elizabeth Line with its own service via Paddington to the east side of London. The M4 is within convenient access and offers road access to the national motorway network and airports.
Top schools at all levels abound in the local area including St. Andrew’s School, Brockhurst & Marlston, Elstree, Moulsford, Cheam, Bradfield College, Downe House, Pangbourne College and The Oratory School.
