Founder Antoine Lurot came across the once scruffy and often run down properties in the 1960s when, as a rally driver and friend of James Hunt and John Surtees he saw their mews garages with accommodation above. Passionate about these distinct, individual properties which often started life as stables in Henry VIII's time, Antoine set up an estate agency in 1971 and photographed and documented 800 central London mews. The first properties he sold were £15,000. Fast forward to today and typically a mews home of 1200 sq ft will sell for £2,500,000. Lurot Brand is the only estate agency that solely deals with mews homes. Despite being asked to deal with other types of property, we long ago decided to specialise in mews about which we are not only passionate, but also expert.
